🍂🍁FALL RESET🍁🍂

The Version of Me I’m Leaving Behind

There comes a point in life when you realize you aren’t the same person you used to be.

And honestly?

Sometimes that’s a really good thing.

We talk a lot about becoming the best version of ourselves. We talk about growth, transformation, healing, starting over.

But sometimes I think we forget to talk about the version of ourselves we have to leave behind to get there.

And I’m not talking about looking back at your past self and judging her.

Because that woman got you here.

She made mistakes. She made questionable decisions. 😂 She probably stayed too long in some situations, trusted the wrong people, said yes when she should have said no, and maybe spent way too much time worrying about what everybody else thought.

But she also survived things.

She learned things.

She kept going.

So maybe instead of being embarrassed by who you used to be, you can thank her.

And then let her go.

Because you don’t have to keep carrying an old version of yourself simply because she’s familiar.

Maybe you’re ready to leave behind the woman who constantly needed everyone’s approval.

The woman who apologized for having boundaries.

The woman who said, “It’s okay,” when it really wasn’t.

The woman who made herself smaller so somebody else could feel bigger.

The woman who kept explaining herself to people who had already decided not to understand her.

The woman who thought being nice meant putting up with everything.

The woman who believed she had to have her entire life figured out by a certain age.

Maybe you’re ready to stop comparing your life to somebody else’s highlight reel and wondering why you aren’t further along.

Maybe you’re ready to stop beating yourself up over choices you made with the information you had at the time.

Because here’s the thing:

You knew then what you knew then.

You know more now.

That’s growth.

And maybe the version of you you’re leaving behind isn’t somebody you need to be ashamed of.

Maybe she’s somebody you need to thank.

Thank her for getting you through the hard stuff.

Thank her for trying.

Thank her for loving people even when they didn’t always deserve it.

Thank her for believing things would get better.

Thank her for surviving the seasons she didn’t think she’d survive.

And then tell her:

“You can rest now. I’ve got it from here.”

Because transformation doesn’t mean the old version of you was a failure.

It means she was never meant to be the final version. 🦋

A butterfly doesn’t look at the caterpillar and think, “What the hell was wrong with me?”

It transforms.

It becomes something new.

And maybe that’s what this fall is asking you to do.

Not reinvent yourself.

Not become somebody you’re not.

Just stop dragging an outdated version of yourself into places she no longer belongs.

😂 She has done enough. Let the woman retire.

Maybe it’s time to stop asking:

“Who do I need to become?”

And start asking:

“Who am I when I finally stop trying to be who everyone else needs me to be?”

Because somewhere underneath all those expectations, apologies, comparisons, fears, and old stories…

You’re still there.

And maybe your reset isn’t about finding yourself.

Maybe it’s about finally giving yourself permission to be yourself.

So this fall, ask yourself:

What version of me am I ready to leave behind?

Not because she wasn’t enough.

But because I’ve grown beyond her.

And if leaving her behind feels a little scary?

That’s okay.

Growth doesn’t always feel comfortable.

Sometimes it feels like standing at the edge of something new with no idea exactly what’s waiting on the other side.

But you’ve changed before.

You’ve survived before.

You’ve begun again before.

And that little spark inside you?

It’s still there. 🔥

Protect it.

Follow it.

And see where it takes you.

Look deeper. Find your worth. Protect your spark. 🦋🔥

🍂🍁Reflection

What version of yourself are you ready to leave behind this fall—and what part of her will you carry forward?

Because maybe we don’t have to throw our past selves away.

Maybe we just have to stop asking them to lead. 🦋
